Replacement UICC SIM |
I had to order a replacement phone since my last phone (ZTE Warp Sequent) got destroyed by water - pay no attention to the phone brand or power house it has because I really don't care if the phone is fast and has a good camera, I just want the damn thing to work.
It's truley amazing how much time people spend on their phones now days!
Any ways I ordered this replacement phone for Boost Mobile - the phone I ordered was a LG Optimus F7 which I received a great deal on Amazon here.
Since Boost Mobile uses CDMA and these phones are 4G you need a (SIM) aka (UICC) card which allows the phone on the 4G network and all of the Boost Mobile (or other carriers who use CDMA) 4G smartphones require this unique SIM card.
What is a UICC?
- We asked our friends over at wikipedia and this is what they said.
The UICC (Universal Integrated Circuit Card) is the smart card used in mobile terminals in GSM and UMTS networks. The UICC ensures the integrity and security of all kinds of personal data, and it typically holds a few hundred kilobytes. With the advent of more services, the storage space will need to be larger. So the phone you bought didn't come with one?
- So far from my research I have found that all USED 4G Boost Mobile phones do not come with the UICC / SIM CARD.
Can I buy one off of ebay?
- You can! But will it work? Probably not. The ones currently on ebay that say (64) on them will not work!
So how do I get one?
- Hopefully the phone you bought has a clean IMEI/ESN number and when you call Boost Mobile (1-866-402-7366)-to activate the phone just mention you need a replacement UICC card and they will create a case for a new one. It will take about 7-10 business days for them to review your account, the IMEI/ESN and then issue you one for free if approved. In the mean time your phone should still activate which you can send/receive calls as well as use the 3G and WiFi; However 4G will NOT work until you receive the replacement UICC card.
And that's it, just make sure the IMEI/ESN on the phone are clean and when your ready to activate make sure you mention you need the UICC replacement!
Also make sure you get a case number when you are trying to get a replacement UICC number and the Agent ID number so you are sure they submitted the request, and call back with in 7-10 business days if you do not receive it yet.
Once you receive your UICC card, put it in the phone and power it back on it should automatically connect to the network if it does not - you will need to call Boost Mobile and have them update your new (ICCID number which is found on the new UICC card) once they do that reprogram your phone by going to the dial pad and entering these keys (##72786#) the phone should then reboot and begin the activation process.
You should now have 4G and a replacement UICC card.
Hope this helps! Thank you for reading!
