DailyMotion Hacked — 85 Million User Accounts Stolen

Another day, another data breach.

This time a popular video sharing platform DailyMotion has allegedly been hacked and tens of millions of users information have been stolen.

Breach notification service LeakedSource announced the data breach on Monday after the company obtained 85.2 Million records from Dailymotion.

Gooligan Malware targets in Android versions 4 and 5 (Jelly Bean, Kit Kat, and Marshmallow) Vulnerability and spreads through third party apps.

Checkpoint security researchers found Android Malware also they reached to Google Security team and given information about the Gooligan Malware campaign.

"We’ve taken many actions to protect our users and improve the security of the Android ecosystem overall." said Adrian Ludwig, Google’s director of Android security. "These include: revoking affected users’ Google Account tokens, providing them with clear instructions to sign back in securely, removing apps related to this issue from affected devices, deploying enduring Verify Apps improvements to protect users from these apps in the future and collaborating with ISPs to eliminate this malware altogether.

The malware isn’t accessing any personal emails or files. When the Android Security team scanned the affected accounts, it found no evidence of the malware accessing data or otherwise using the token for fraud. There was also no evidence of the malware targeting any particular people or organizations.

How Gooligan Malware works?

Affected Users:

Over 57% Asia , 19% Americans, 15% Africa and 9 % Europe users are affected. Security researchers first encountered Gooligan’s code in the malicious SnapPea app last year. At the time this malware was reported by several security vendors, and attributed to different malware families like Ghostpush, MonkeyTest, and Xinyinhe.

Massive Cyber Attack on Russian Central Bank $31 Million Stolen

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) already warned and said that the servers to be used in the alleged cyber attack were located in the Netherlands and registered to a Ukrainian web hosting company called BlazingFast.

“It was planned that the cyber attack would be accompanied by a mass send-out of SMS messages and publications in social media of a provocative nature regarding a crisis in the Russian banking system, bankruptcies and license withdrawals,” an FSB statement said.

Anton Onoprichuk, director of Kiev-based BlazingFast, said neither the FSB nor any other intelligence agency had been in touch with his company. He told Reuters he was waiting for more information so his firm could investigate.

Central bank official Artyom Sychyov discussed the losses at a briefing, saying that the hackers had attempted to steal about 5 billion rubles.

Sychyov was commenting on a central bank report released earlier in the day, that told about hackers breaking into accounts there by faking a client's credentials. The bank provided few other details in its lengthy report.

Biggest Cyber Attacks on Bank

A group of hackers stole from central bank in Feburary 2016 from Bangladesh at the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank in New York.

Earlier, United Stats condemned the Russian government for hacking of their computers at the Democratic National Committee.

“We can’t say exactly when, but we can say today it was stolen,” Ekaterina Glebova, an official in the central bank’s press office, told The WSJ.
