Windows 8.1 wont resume after sleep or hibernation mode

If you just recently built your own computer and started to run Microsoft Windows 8 or 8.1 and notice your computer does not like to resume from stand by or hibernation even though you have the screen saver turned off and power option on performance then it sounds like you need to flash your BIOS.



To "Flash BIOS" is a simple task, sure there are ton of warnings out there because you have to flash it a specific way. It all depends on your "mother board" on how to flash. Here is a list of several manufactures with direct links to all makes and models of system boards they offer.



 Tip: To find out your current mother board bios version: Click Start > Type: Run > Open the run box and type in: msinfo32 and hit enter, this will bring up a spec detail of your current computer configuration.

Now that you know how to locate your current bios information, visit your motherboard manufacture for the latest update. The manufacture of your system board should indicate what BIOS changes have been made for a complete list, support and help visit their website.



*Note this is just a reference, please make sure you take extreme caution when upgrading your BIOS, read all details in full. Most BIOS updates require a USB Flash stick, there are other methods but now days it is the preferred method of most users.
